The short answer
ZoopCoder installs the Ghost publishing platform on your own Ubuntu server for a fixed ₹1,499, ready in 1-2 working days. The price covers a Ghost install on a server in your name, your domain with SSL that renews itself, a firewall and a non-root user, outgoing email for staff invites and password resets, your theme uploaded, your site title and logo, and daily backups with one tested restore. Ghost needs MySQL 8 as its production database and a VPS, so it will not run on ordinary shared hosting, and the newsletter sending feature needs a separate Mailgun account. The server and domain are paid for separately.
What you get
- A production install of the current Ghost release on your Ubuntu VPS using the official Ghost command-line installer, with Node.js and MySQL 8 set up to match
- Your domain or subdomain pointed to it, Nginx as the web server and free SSL that renews itself, with HTTPS enforced
- Server hardened: firewall on, root login and password login for SSH switched off, a separate non-root user running Ghost
- Outgoing email configured so staff invites and password resets arrive, with a test message sent and received
- Your site title, description, logo and accent colour set, and one theme you supply (or the default Source theme) activated
- Your admin account created and a test post published to check that editing and the public page work
- Daily automatic backups of the database and content folder to a location you choose, and one test restore so you know the backup works
- A short written guide to updating Ghost and 14 days of fixes for anything we configured

- An Ubuntu VPS with root access bought in your name — at least 1 GB of RAM plus swap is the minimum, 2 GB is more comfortable; we tell you which plan to buy before you pay for one
- A domain or subdomain you can point to the server
- Your logo, site title, your theme files if you have one, and a mailbox or SMTP login for outgoing email
Not included
- The VPS fee, domain fee and backup storage fee, billed by those providers to you
- Newsletter sending through Mailgun, and the Mailgun account itself — Ghost uses it for bulk email and it has its own usage fees

- Moving posts from WordPress or another platform — quoted separately
- Ongoing server updates and monitoring after the 14 days — see Website Maintenance Monthly or ask us for a monthly quote
About this service
Ghost is a publishing platform built for blogs, paid newsletters and memberships, and when you host it yourself you keep the content, the audience and the subscriber list. It is not a one-click shared-hosting app: it needs a VPS, Node.js, MySQL 8 and Nginx, and it should run as its own non-root user behind a firewall. Most do-it-yourself installs go wrong on the email step, so staff invites and password resets never arrive, and on backups that nobody has ever tested. We install it the way the Ghost documentation describes, set up SSL and email, and restore a backup once before handover to prove it works. If you would rather run a WordPress site, see WordPress Website, and for the server itself see VPS Server Setup.
Questions before you buy
Can Ghost run on my shared hosting?
No. Ghost needs a VPS where it can run Node.js and MySQL 8. If you only have shared hosting, we tell you which small VPS plan to buy before you pay for one.
Is Ghost free?
The Ghost software is free and open source. You pay for the VPS, the domain and backup storage. Ghost also sells its own hosting, which this service does not use; here we install it on a server you own.
Will newsletters work?
Posts and staff emails work. Sending newsletters to subscribers needs a Mailgun account, which has its own fees and is not part of this service.
Can you use my own theme?
Yes, we upload and activate one theme you supply. Changing theme code or designing a new theme is quoted separately.
Can you move my WordPress blog into it?
Not in this service. Moving posts, images and redirects from WordPress is quoted separately.
Who owns the server and content?
You do. The server and domain are bought in your name and we only use the access you give us. You can remove our access once the 14 days of fixes are over.
