The short answer
ZoopCoder installs the free, open-source Matomo Analytics on your own Ubuntu server for a fixed ₹1,999, ready in 1-2 working days. Matomo’s requirements page (checked October 2026) says Matomo 6 needs PHP 8.1 or newer and MySQL 8.0 or newer or MariaDB 10.6 or newer, and sizes a server for up to 100,000 monthly page views at 2 CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM and 50 GB of SSD. That rules out the old PHP 7 and MySQL 5.7 set-ups still found on cheap shared hosting, which is why we put Matomo on a VPS in your name. The price covers Matomo on Nginx, PHP and MariaDB, your domain with SSL, the tracking code added to one website and proven with a test visit, up to 3 goals, IP anonymisation and Do Not Track respected, outgoing email, your admin account and up to 2 more users, report processing on a system cron job, and daily backups with one tested restore. Matomo itself is free, so there is no per-visit fee; the server, domain and backup storage are billed separately.
What you get
- Matomo (free open-source edition) installed on your Ubuntu VPS with Nginx, PHP-FPM and MariaDB, on versions that meet the current Matomo requirements
- Your domain or subdomain pointed to it with free SSL that renews itself, and HTTPS enforced
- Server hardened: firewall on, root login and password login for SSH switched off
- One website added to Matomo and its tracking code placed on it (WordPress plugin or code snippet), proven with a test visit that shows in the Real-time report
- Up to 3 goals set up, for example a contact form submit, a thank-you page visit or a phone-number click
- Privacy-friendly settings switched on: IP anonymisation and respect for the browser’s Do Not Track signal
- Outgoing email configured so password resets and scheduled report emails arrive, with a test message sent and received
- Your admin account and up to 2 more user accounts, with view-only access for people who only read reports
- Report processing moved to a system cron job instead of running while visitors load pages, so dashboards stay fast
- Daily automatic backups of the Matomo database and config to a location you choose, and one test restore
- A short written guide to updating Matomo and adding another website, and 14 days of fixes for anything we configured

What we need from you
- An Ubuntu VPS with root access bought in your name — 2 GB of RAM is the least we recommend; we tell you which plan to buy before you pay for one
- A domain or subdomain you can point to the server, for example stats.yourbusiness.com
- Admin access to the website that should be tracked, so the tracking code can be placed on it
- A mailbox or SMTP login for outgoing email
Not included
- The VPS fee, domain fee and backup storage fee, billed by those providers to you
- More than one website, e-commerce tracking, Matomo Tag Manager containers and custom reports — quoted separately
- Importing your old Google Analytics history, and paid Matomo Marketplace plugins such as heatmaps and funnels, which have their own licences
- Matomo Cloud, which is Matomo hosting and not a server of yours
- A cookie banner and legal advice: whether you need visitor consent depends on how you configure Matomo and on the law that applies to you, and we do not give legal advice. For a consent banner see Cookie Consent & Consent Mode v2
- Tuning for very high traffic: above roughly 1 million page views a month Matomo advises a separate database server, which is a bigger job
About this service
Matomo is a website analytics tool you run on your own server, so the visit data stays in a database you own instead of with a third party. It is free software, and it appeals to businesses that want to see traffic, goals and campaigns without sending visitor data to an outside company. The catch is that Matomo is picky about its server. Version 6 needs PHP 8.1 or newer and MySQL 8.0 or newer or MariaDB 10.6 or newer, so it will not run on many older shared hosting plans. It also works best when reports are processed by a scheduled job rather than while a visitor waits, and it needs a tested backup, because the visit history is the one thing you cannot recreate. We handle all of that, put the tracking code on your site, and check a real visit appears. If you only want Google’s free tool, see Google Analytics & Search Console Setup; for a consent banner see Cookie Consent & Consent Mode v2, and for the server itself see VPS Server Setup.
Questions before you buy
Is Matomo free?
Yes, the open-source edition is free to run on your own server. You pay for the VPS, the domain and backup storage. Some Matomo Marketplace plugins and Matomo Cloud are paid and are not part of this service.
Why not just use shared hosting?
Matomo 6 needs PHP 8.1 or newer and MySQL 8.0 or newer or MariaDB 10.6 or newer, and a busy site needs scheduled report processing. A small VPS meets both. If you already have a host that meets the requirements, tell us before you pay.
Does Matomo replace Google Analytics?
It does the same core job of counting visitors, pages, sources and goals, with the data on your server. Reports and names differ, and your old Google Analytics history is not moved over by this service.
Do I still need a cookie banner?
It depends on how Matomo is configured and on the law that applies to you. We set privacy-friendly options such as IP anonymisation, but we do not give legal advice, so decide on consent with your own adviser.
How many visits can it handle?
Matomo’s own guidance is that one server of 2 CPU cores and 2 GB of RAM suits up to about 100,000 page views a month. Bigger sites need a bigger server, and above about 1 million a month a separate database server.
Who owns the server and data?
You do. The server and domain are bought in your name and we only use the access you give us. You can remove our access once the 14 days of fixes are over.
