About this service
Chatwoot is an open-source customer inbox: your website chat and your support email arrive in one place and a small team can answer them together. Hosted help-desk tools charge per agent every month, while a self-hosted Chatwoot costs only the server. What stops many people is the install itself, which needs a domain, SSL, a database, background workers and working outgoing email, and which has to keep running after a reboot. We install it on a server in your name, add SSL and daily backups, and test a restore before any real customer message arrives. Then we put the chat widget on your website and check that a message sent from the site shows up for your agent and that the reply comes back. Questions before you buy
Is Chatwoot really free?
The self-hosted software is free and open source. You pay for the server, the domain and backup storage. Chatwoot also sells a hosted plan, which this service does not cover; here we install it on a server you own.
What server do I need?
An Ubuntu server with root access. We recommend at least 4 GB of RAM, and we tell you which plan to buy before you pay for one.
Does it include WhatsApp?
No. WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook channels need accounts and approvals from those companies, so they are quoted separately.
Does it include a chatbot?
No. This is the human inbox and website widget. Automated replies and chatbot flows are quoted separately.
Who owns the server and the data?
You do. The server and domain are bought in your name and we only use the access you give us. You can remove our access once the 14 days of fixes are over.
Can you move my old chat history?
Not in this fixed fee. Moving conversations from another help-desk or chat tool is a separate job, quoted separately.
