What does logistics management software actually do?

Not a brochure — a recording of a working system. Eleven real admin screens, seven of them a genuine fleet, owner and transporter registry. Then the honest India price, and why a video titled “Freight Billing to Parcel Tracking” never once books a consignment or tracks one.

Quick answer

Logistics management software, at least the part shown here, replaces the paper register or WhatsApp thread a courier or transport business uses to track which lorries, owners and transport partners it works with. The video below is a recording of a working system, not a slideshow: 11 real screens in 2 minutes 48 seconds — a lorry registry, lorry-owner records, a transporter list, vehicle types, completed orders and payment methods. In India, deployment starts at ₹1,00,000 with maintenance from ₹3,000/month, and a from-scratch custom build of a fuller system is a 6–16 week project. One honesty check first: this video is titled “Freight Billing to Parcel Tracking in One System” and claims five features — of those, zero are fully shown on screen. There is no consignment booking screen and no live tracking screen anywhere in the recording. What it actually is: a fleet and vendor registry, the master data a booking-and-tracking system would run on top of.

The rule: ask where a consignment gets booked, not how many lorries you have

Before you price any logistics system, ask one question: when a new consignment comes in, where does it get entered, and how does the customer find out it has moved? If the honest answer is a phone call and a driver's WhatsApp update, a fleet registry like the one in this recording will organise your vendor data but will not close that gap. It is worth building only once you know whether the booking-and-tracking layer is the part you are actually short on.

ZoopCoder is paid to deploy these systems, and the rule above tells a share of readers — an operator who already books and tracks jobs through some other channel and only wants a fleet registry tidied up — that this demo is close to what they need already. That is deliberate. A transport business that pays for tracking software nobody built and nobody uses ends up running the fleet on WhatsApp anyway, at double the cost.

What the demo actually shows, screen by screen

Seven of the eleven recorded screens are real product screens. The other four — an FAQ list, country codes, provinces and a banner manager — are interface furniture, not logistics features.

Screen What it actually does
Lorry ListThe registered fleet of lorries available for jobs — a vehicle registry, not a live map
Lorry Owner ListThe owner each lorry is registered to — this is an aggregator or marketplace model connecting owners to jobs, not a single private fleet
Transporter ListThe registered transport partners or vendors who actually carry freight
List VehicleA vehicle-type master — categories of vehicle available, not individual live units
Completed OrderA static list of jobs marked finished — an end-state list, not a live tracking view
Payment MethodThe payment options configured for a shipment — not an invoice or a bill

The five features this video claims, against what is on screen

This video is titled “Freight Billing to Parcel Tracking in One System” and names five features in its description. Judge each against what is actually opened on screen, not the title.

Claimed feature On screen in the recording? What is actually shown
Consignment bookingNot shownCompleted Order lists finished jobs, but no screen creates a new consignment or generates a booking record
Branch and hub transfersNot shownNo branch or hub screen of any kind appears; the registry lists vendors and owners, not a hub network
Live parcel trackingNot shownNo tracking, GPS or shipment-status-timeline screen ever opens; Completed Order is a static end-state list
Delivery proof and statusHalf-shownCompleted Order shows a job's final state, but no proof-of-delivery capture — signature, photo or OTP — appears anywhere
Freight billing and reportsHalf-shownPayment Method configures how a shipment is paid for, but no invoice is generated and no report screen — revenue, route-wise or transporter-wise — is ever opened

Net result: zero of five claimed features are fully shown, two are half-shown, three do not appear at all. What the recording actually demonstrates well is the vendor and fleet side — who owns which lorry, which transporters you work with, what vehicle types exist — not the booking, tracking or billing workflow the title promises.

What Indian courier and transport operators have to account for that is not in this recording

Moving goods in India carries obligations no screen in this demo touches: an e-way bill generated for any consignment above the statutory value threshold, a lorry receipt or consignment note as the legal proof of carriage, GST under reverse charge for a registered Goods Transport Agency, and up-to-date vehicle documents — RC, permit, insurance and fitness certificate — tracked against expiry. If your operation needs any of these built into the system rather than handled on paper, say so when you ask for a quote — it changes the scope and the price.

What it costs in India (2026)

These are ZoopCoder’s own published numbers, from the pricing page — not a market survey. Your exact figure comes from a fixed written quote, returned in 24–48 hours.

Payments follow the standard schedule — 30% at kickoff, 40% at the mid-project milestone, 30% on delivery. Build times match the window in our timeline guide, where every three days you take to approve a stage adds roughly a week to the calendar.

What actually drives the price up

Not fleet size. Four things, in this order:

  1. Consignment booking and an LR-style document. A screen where a new job is entered, priced and turned into a legal proof-of-carriage document is a distinct module from a vendor registry.
  2. Live tracking. A customer- or dispatcher-facing view of where a consignment actually is — GPS integration, driver app, status timeline — is a separate build on top of the base system.
  3. Proof-of-delivery capture. Signature, photo or OTP capture at the point of delivery, tied back to the consignment record, needs a driver-facing mobile screen this admin panel does not have.
  4. E-way-bill-ready billing. Freight invoices that account for GST reverse charge and link to e-way bill numbers are a compliance-grade billing module, not a plain payment-method list.

When you should not buy this

  • You need customers to track a shipment. That is not in this recording. It can be built, but as a separate tracking and driver-app layer, not an add-on switch.
  • You already book and track jobs through another system. If only the vendor and fleet records need organising, this demo is close to what you need — do not pay for a full rebuild.
  • You run one or two vehicles. A registry of lorries, owners and transporters solves a coordination problem that mostly shows up once you are managing several vendors at once.
  • You have not seen it running. That is what the video above is for. If a vendor cannot show you the actual screens before you pay, that is the answer.

Frequently asked questions

What does logistics management software actually do?

It gives a courier or transport business one shared record of lorries, owners and transport partners, instead of a register kept on paper or WhatsApp. Lorry, lorry-owner, transporter and vehicle-type records, plus completed orders and payment methods, are all shown in the demo above — 11 real screens in 2 minutes 48 seconds.

How much does it cost in India in 2026?

Deployment and configuration starts at ₹1,00,000, maintenance runs ₹3,000 / ₹8,000 / ₹15,000+ per month by plan, and a from-scratch custom build of a fuller system is 6–16 weeks and priced as custom software. Consignment booking, live tracking and e-way-bill-ready billing each add to that, and none of them is in this recording.

How long does the rollout take?

A configured deployment of the registry shown here is weeks; a custom build that adds booking, tracking and billing is 6–16 weeks. The registry itself is quick to set up — the booking-to-billing workflow around it is the part that takes real project time.

Do we own the code and the fleet data?

Yes — source code, database and project files, with documentation, handed over as part of the quoted price and no release fee. Get this in writing from any vendor. A vendor who keeps the code and hosts it only on their own account can effectively hold every fleet and consignment record hostage to a renewal fee.

Is this the right system for a courier or transport business?

If you already book, track and bill consignments through a working system and only need the vendor and fleet side organised, this recording is close to what you would get. If you need booking, live tracking or GST-ready freight billing inside the system, none of that is in this demo and would be quoted as additional scope.
